I have been purchasing books on eBay and found 2 books I have received have deckle edges. One is R.A. Salvatore's Promise of the witch-king first edition First printing 2005 is this rare? The second book is R.A. Salvatore Starless Night this Edition First printing 2006 is this one rare? They are both hard cover books. I also have many other Salvatore books but they do not have deckle edges on one side like these do???
Can anyone advise me in this???

When I first saw this, I had innately understood that that's the kind of effect that the publisher was looking for, but did not know the history of it. Thanks for this article! Personally, I think it makes the book look smarter, but perhaps it's something a paperback reader may not understand.
